What are the symptoms of food allergies? These symptoms are triggered by food intolerance in the digestive system. Such symptoms include vomiting, nausea, skin rashes and diarrhea. Food allergy is an abnormal response of food in the body. This condition affects many people; however, the degree of reaction varies. Food allergy is caused by a food allergen .An allergen is protein in food that usually can not stand the enzymic reactions during digestion, the acid or the mode of cooking. When it enters in to the bloodstream, it triggers an allergy.

Symptoms of food allergies can be mild or severe in other cases causing serious illnesses. The most common types of foods that can cause allergies are milk, nuts, some fresh fruits, fur, drugs and pollen grain. It can also be hereditary for people who have one or both parents with a similar allergy. Most allergies are acquired at infancy stage when the mother is breastfeeding. Allergies to milk and eggs are most common in children at this stage. Parents should monitor child' behavior when they eat certain foods. Corrective measures this early will alleviate severe food allergies at a later stage.

-An itchy feeling in the mouth is a sign that a food allergen is present in the food.

-Difficulties in breathing sneezing and wheezing because of blocked airways, if not treated early can lead to asthma.

-Hives, eczema, and other rashes on the body.

-Abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting

-Blood in stool

-Weakness, fainting and lightheadedness

-Swellings on some body part such as the lips face and arms.

Some allergies can be fatal even at the onset of mild reactions. People who react with consumption of nuts are the most affected. The allergy caused can lead to anaphylaxis, diseases that cause blood pressure to drop drastically. This disease should be treated immediately. Some symptoms of anaphylaxis include a lightheaded feeling, itchiness on the mouth and throat, rapid pulse and loss of consciousness. If anaphylaxis is not treated early, it can lead to a comma, and eventually death. Some of the most common foods that cause food allergies are tomatoes, fish, eggs, and nuts (peanuts and walnuts). Children tend to outgrow food allergies if they are not hereditary. Adults on the other hand fall even more prey to food allergies. The reason is simple: children have a generally stronger immunity than adults.
